Global Competency Development
The New Youth Global Competence Talent Cultivation Project is a pioneering initiative by the China Education International Exchange Association, operating under the Ministry of Education aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of domestic college students in the new era. Aligned with directives from General Secretary Xi on talent cultivation, the project addresses the future talent requirements of the nation. It endeavors to innovate a model that expedites the nurturing of international competitiveness, high-level talents through collaborateive “second classroom” initiatives with colleges and universities. It aims to cooperate with the international development goals of colleges and universities and accelerate the cultivation of high-level compound talents with patriotism, global vision and international competitiveness.
The project employs a “course + practice” training method, featuring 9 elective courses, 9 thematic lecture series, and 9 practical activities in both domestic and international settings integrated with course teaching, known as the “999 model”. The “Courses” are composed of three modules: “Contemporary China”, “International Understanding” and “Cross-Cultural Communication”. The total number of 9 elective courses and 9 series of lectures is about 160 hours, and students can flexibly choose according to their own situation; “Practice” is a series of 9 activities specially set up for the New Youth Global Competence Cultivation Project, including domestic and international research and investigation, in-depth visits, research and study, internships and training.
The project falls under the overall responsibility of the China Education Association for International Exchange. Its affiliated organization, China Education International Exchange and Training Institute, handles the project’s specific implementation in collaboration with relevant institutions. The “Training Project” has formed an expert guidance committee composing of senior figures renowned in fields, such as education, diplomacy, international organizations, and enterprises. It provides guidance for the implementation of the project, reviews the applications of colleges and universities, evaluates project effectiveness, and provides recommenations for enhancement..
As the primary cooperative institution of the project, the EWIE Institute has been extensively engaged in its research,development and implementation. EWIE has taken responsibility for establishing training models, constructing curriculum systems, organizing and implementing teaching activities, as well as conducting dynamic testing and evaluation throughout the entire process.
